More Meyers beach issues........
It would appear that another kayaker capsized and needed to be rescued off the Meyers beach sea caves last Sunday. In this case the fellow had his wet suit and gear in place and there was an experienced guide, leading a group from Living Adventures, in the area to assist. We were coming off the water that day and it was a bit breezy but manageable. Our group split up into a four and three boat component ("when at sea, the number's three".) with the three who wanted to feel the wind in our teeth heading around Point Detour to Little Sand Bay and the others cruising down to the Red Cliff marina with mostly following seas. This incident points out that a sober and subjective assessment of your own abilities and those of your paddling companions is essential for safe paddling also. Fortunately it turned out OK this time.
